This study will focus on surveillance, characterization and location of emerging pathogens that circulate in local bats from Malagos, Davao City.
The specific aims are:
1. To identify the species of bats present in Malagos, Davao City
2. To determine the occurrence of leptospires and coronaviruses in bats during through molecular detection methods
3. To establish the phylogenetic relationship of the locally circulating strains of leptospires and coronaviruses in bats to that of human strains
